Makerere University Health Services (MakHS) refers to services offered by Makerere University Hospital, the Dental School and Satellite clinics at Kabanyolo and Jinja campuses. Makerere University Hospital has been in existence since 1978 and has served not only as a center for providing healthcare services but also as a center for training, research.
The Hospital is managed by Makerere University
College of Health Sciences (MakCHS) and all CHS departments are reflected at the Hospital and highly supported by professionals from the
College of Health Sciences (CHS). MakCHS (former Makerere Medical School) is a leading College in training, research and health care practice in Africa.
The University
Hospital runs a 24 hours service with a standby ambulance service in case of emergencies. The
Hospital has a 22 bed in-patient ward for
staff and students. The
Hospital Administration is trying in every way possible to improve on the services and aspects of the
Hospital so as to provide wider and better services to the Community.

Profile – Hospital Director
Dr. Byamugisha Josaphat Kayogoza is the Director Makerere University Health Services (Cross- appointment). He is Founder President East Central and Southern Africa College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ECSACOG). He headed Obs/Gyn Mak University 2008-2016.

He comes in with vast training (MBChB, MMed, PhD, FAIMER Fellow (PA, USA), and more than twenty years’ experience in health care delivery, leadership, research, M & E and is a positive thinker with Positive deviance.
